Worth the Discipline: Pen Electrolysis System

Women have traditionally used shaving, plucking and waxing as ways to remove unsightly hair from their bodies, such as on faces and bikini lines. These methods require multiple treatments for the rest of the woman's life, daily, weekly and sometimes monthly, depending on the color of the hair and the rate of growth. These methods can also be expensive, with waxing and replacement razors costing ten or more dollars a time for the products or service, which can be hard on the budget since it is a never ending process. Pen electrolysis systems provide a means of hair removal that lasts so that the woman only has to spot check for new growth periodically, rather than having to do it every day. There are inexpensive versions of these pens on the market, such as the Beautiko electrolysis pen, which can run as inexpensive as twenty dollars and runs on batteries.

The Process

Pen electrolysis systems require diligence on the part of the woman who uses them, but the time put into the process pays off since she will never again have to deal with unsightly hair in the areas that have been treated. Since hair follicles produce hairs at different times, there is not a way to do the treatment once and catch all the hair follicles producing the growth in those areas. Pen electrolysis systems must be used over a period of time, usually seeing results within two weeks of the start of the process and being able to only spot check by the end of two months or so.

Pen electrolysis systems are designed to pass electricity through a gel product which changes the salt and water solution to sodium hydroxide which gently kills the hair root and also the papilla so that the hair will not grow back. One of the best ways to use the pen electrolysis systems is to pluck the hairs in the area to be treated and then apply the treatment since this tends to allow a better flow to the papilla. It will work with the hair still in place, but it seems to be better if the hair is out of the way. Although the pen electrolysis system is not to be used multiple times in a day, it can be used up to four times per week, thus catching any hairs that grow up and making the process go more quickly. The pen electrolysis systems usually come with everything needed to do the job, including extra gel and a soothing lotion to be used at the end of the treatment.
